Ebonyi government to compensate people displaced by International airport
The Ebonyi State government yesterday said it will pay compensations to those who may be displaced from their communities, as a result of the International Airport project.
This followed mass protest by people whose lands were taken for the airport project including Amuzu in Ezza South Council, Umuoghara, Umuezeoka, Umuezekoha and other communities in Ezza North Council Area of the state.
Speaking with journalists in Abakaliki, Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Uchenna Orji, assured the people that the state government would compensate those who may be displaced.
While appealing to them to support the project, he noted that nothing would stop the state government from constructing the airport on the approved site, and urged the protesters to vacate all marked areas.
