Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has declared that the state would not participate in today’s conference on ‘Handshake across the Niger.’

He disclosed this yesterday in Abakaliki, the state capital, when he received the Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah-led local organising committee.

According to him, the state was not consulted in the conception and planning of the conference, which would hold in Enugu.

A socio cultural organisation affiliated to Ohaneze Ndigbo, Nzukor Umunnah, is organising the conference.

The meeting, according to the organisers, is aimed at boosting the relationship between the Igbo/Yoruba nations by looking at the past, present and future.

The governor expressed dissatisfaction at the neglect of the state in the entire concept, which has no notable Ebonyi person in the committee.

He explained that he only received the committee due to his high regard for Ubah.
