Eagle Schnapps extols new Olota of Ota

The 14th traditional ruler of Ota-Awori Kingdom, Oba (Prof.) Abdul-Kabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, was last week installed as the new Olota of Ota. The staff of office was presented to him by Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun.

Obalanlege emerged the preferred candidate of the 22 princes presented by the Ijemo/Isoloshi Ruling House to all the five living kingmakers on November 28, 2017. He was crowned traditionally by the Odota of Ota, Oladele Adeniji, on February 28.

The Olota of Ota, in his acceptance speech, pledged that he would not split from the path of honour his forefathers thread. He said during his reign, the pride of the town would continue to soar higher.

Meanwhile, in its efforts to continue promoting Nigeria’s culture and tradition, Eagle Aromatic Schnapps, makers of the popular prayer drink, has felicitated with Obalanlege. The management team of Intercontinental Distillers Limited (makers of Eagles Schnapps) led by the Managing Director, Patrick Anegbe, said on their visit to the Olota, that Ota held a special place in the heart of the company as its host community.

He acknowledged the peaceful co-existence between the company and the community and attributed part of the success story of IDL and its brands to this. He added that the Eagle Aromatic Schnapps brand known for promoting culture and tradition will continue to support Ota culturally, hence its participation financially and physically at the coronation ceremony.  

Responding, Obalanlege praised IDL for its partnership in the past and solicited help in the area of job employment for the youth of Ota, noting that idle hands were the devil’s workshop and employment of the youth will ensure peace during his reign. He poured libation with Eagle Schnapps and prayed for the progress of IDL, Ota and Nigeria at large.
