THE Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of Federal University Dutse in Jigawa, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, has announced the appointment of Prof. Abubakar Musa Kundiri as the new Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the institution to take over from the incumbent VC whose tenure will expire in February 2016.

Professor Adedoja who disclosed this to newsmen said Kundiri, who scored 91.1 percent to emerge first ahead of Professor Salisu Abdullahi Kazaure who scored 81.4 percent and Prof. Zakari Muhammed of ABU Zaria, who scored 70 percent to emerging third in the contest.

Adedoja explained that 24 Professors applied for the position, 11 were shortlisted by the council while three were recommended by selection board after a thorough interview for the candidates based on their curriculum vitae and performance during the interview.

The Governing Council chairman said that the process was open, transparent and fair to all aspirants.

“On behalf of the Governing Council of this university and in consonant with the law establishing the university, I hereby present a letter of appointment to Professor Abubakar Kundiri,” he stated.

Kundiri, until his new appointment was Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration of the university and a professor of Soil Science and Water Management.

The new VC is the pioneer Dean Students Affairs, Dean of Faculty of Agriculture and currently the DVC Administration.

The Pro-Chancellor also announced the appointment of Professor Gaji Badawi as the school’s new librarian.
