To improve the lives of residents of one of its host communities, Dufil Prima Foods, makers of Indomie instant noodles, has offered N4million scholarships to 40 junior secondary and primary school pupils of Choba community in Rivers State to cater for their educational needs, including tuition and books.

The scholarship support of N100, 000 was presented to 10 pupils each from the four public schools in the community- two junior secondary schools and two primary schools- based on their academic standing in the last session.

The beneficiary schools are Community Junior Secondary School, Olobo Premier College, Universal Primary Education (UPE) and State Primary School, all in Choba community, Rivers State.

The Group Public Relations and Events Manager of the firm, Temitope Ashiwaju, handed over the cheques to the beneficiaries during a ceremony in Port Harcourt. Ashiwaju said the gesture was borne out of the need to reward academic excellence and spur pupils to do more, adding that education is one of the pillars of firm’s corporate social investments.

Also speaking, the Desk Officer, Debate, Quiz and Competition, Rivers State Universal Education Board, Mrs. Susan Ejiohuo, commended the firm for the scholarships, urging other companies and organisations to emulate the kind gesture.
