Parents have been charged to give equal opportunity to their children irrespective of their gender.

Dame Prof. Ajesola Adepeju Majekodunmi gave the advice recently during a communal Hymn Singing to mark the 21st and 10th Memorial Anniversary of the family patriarch, Omo-0ba Alfred Awokoya Solarin and the matriarch, Olori Jemima Otubomehin Solarin held at the Williams’ Memorial Methodist Cathedral, Ebute Metta, Lagos.

She advised parents to always give equal opportunity to children without discrimination, noting that “it is impossible to foresee who among their children would uplift the family in future.”

Also speaking at the event, Olajide Majekodunmi described his grandfather as an advocate of education, who gave his best to ensure all his daughters, including his wife, went to school.

To honour their memory, Majekodunmi revealed the family intends to use the money realised from the event to aid the church Sunday School, Boys and Girls’ Brigade, Youth Church and women’s fellowship among others.
