Professor of Physics at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture (MOUAU), Umudike in Abia State, Dr. Obini Ekpe Ekpe has urged young scientists across the country to take interest in the study of Astronomy and Astrophysics, to broaden their knowledge because of its importance.

Ekpe, who stated this, yesterday, while delivering the university’s 33rd inaugural lecture titled: “Amazing Universe: Origin, Evolution And Quasar Controversy,” said:

“Studying these two courses is one of the best ways of tapping from the unlimited resources available inside this giant laboratory called the sky.”

He also urged universities authorities to encourage the study of these two courses, saying young scientists can be lured by introducing elements of motivation in the form of scholarship awards, provision of research grants, fellowship awards and adequate funding.

He advised MOUAU to partner the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) in the areas of research and development, in order to promote Astronomy, Astrophysics and Space Science.
