Dogara, PFN, FCT minister seek tolerance, peaceful coexistence

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has urged all Nigerians to tolerate one another and live in peace irrespective of their religious creed.

He gave the charge while felicitating with the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr Sallah celebration, and enjoined them to sustain the lessons of Ramadan and replicate same in their daily lives for a better society.

He also called on the Ummah not to be carried away by only the pageantry of the celebration, but to use the occasion for sober reflection and extend gestures and support to the needy, as well as pray against insecurity and economic situation of the country.

Dogara stressed the importance of peace, unity and tolerance among the different segments for growth and development of the country, noting that Nigeria’s heterogeneity should be a source of strength rather than conflict.

Also, President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Rev. Dr. Felix Omobude, congratulated the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III and Muslims across the country and beyond at this year’s Eid-el-Fitr.

While congratulating Moslem faithful on the completion of this year’s Ramadan, Omobude wished them a joyful celebration just as he prayed that the celebration would usher in greater peace and prosperity in the country.

He enjoined all Nigerians to embrace mutual tolerance and understanding in their conducts and relationships, irrespective of their faith, ethnicity or gender.

He charged all religious leaders to continue to put the country in their daily prayers and prayed for wisdom for the government and public officials.

Meanwhile, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mohammed Musa Bello, called on all Nigerians to imbibe tolerance, peaceful coexistence irrespective of religion, tribe and political leanings.

His words: “The FCT, as we all know, is a melting pot of all segments of the Nigerian population and we take pride in our rich diversity.

“Let us, therefore, continue to respect and tolerate one another, irrespective of our religion, tribe, and political leanings. It is only through that that we can truly call our city the Centre of Unity.

Bello stated this yesterday in Abuja in his Ramadan message to residents of the capital territory.

“As we join our counterparts all over the world to celebrate the 2018 Eid-el-Fitr, I send you very warm greetings and felicitations on behalf of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA),” he added.
