Doctor, lawyers others docked for forgery
A 59 year old medical doctor, two lawyers and a 72 year old man were yesterday arraigned at the Agbor Magistrate Court, Delta State for alleged felony and forgery of documents to assist their client.
The accused persons: Joseph Chiyem 72, Dr. Chris Uzor, 59 year old Barr. Sunday Okwuolise, and Barr. Ifeanyi Aghalor, were arraigned and subsequently granted bail by the Chief Magistrate of the Court, Edward A. Odjugo, after they met the bail conditions.
In a four-count charge of conspiracy, felony, threat to life and forgery preferred against the accused persons by the police, the police prosecutor, Christ Kpapuma told the court that the alleged offences were committed on 9th December 2011. According to the charge sheet, Joseph Chiyem and C.O Uzor including two others, were on said day at Government House, Owa-Alero within Agbor Magisterial District, conspired to commit felony to wit; forgery, an offence punishable under section 516 of the criminal code law cap c22 vol. 1 laws of Delta State.
Joseph Chiyem conspired with others in Obi Aiyima community to murder one Chief Chukwuyemu, the Eleme of Obi-Aiyima and was subsequently arrested, while others fled the community for fear of the unknown.
But while Chiyem was remanded in Prison Custody, he influenced and deceived the High Court in Agbor that he was critically ill and a medical report was forged for him.
Granting the accused persons bail, the magistrate adjourned the case to 29th August, 2017.
