The SSG who commended NEMA for the materials said that the state government has become proactive to prevent and reduce natural disaster occurrences in the state, especially those he tagged Man-made ones and sympathised with the affected communities even as he lauded the NEMA for performing its statutory duty in this regard.

NEMA Director General Mallam Sani Sidi, who was represented by the Owerri Zonal Coordinator, Dr. Innocent Ezeaku. named the disasters that hit the communities as flood, rain and wind storms, some of which he attributed their cause to poor town planning and drainage system hence he urged government to do the needful to avert them.
