Dickson tasks Bayelsa council bosses on accountability
Governor Seriake Dickson has challenged the eight newly elected council chairmen in Bayelsa State to promote transparency and accountability in the administration of their areas.
He gave the charge while swearing in the council bosses and their deputies in Government House, Yenagoa.
His Special Adviser on Public Affairs, Daniel Alabrah, quoted the governor as calling on the chairmen to ensure strict compliance with the state’s Transparency and Accountability Law.
Dickson said legislative sanctions would be imposed on any chairman that misuses council funds.
According to him, the chairmen are to ensure prompt payment of salaries and execution of projects that impact positively on the lives of the people.
