Dickson seeks new FG approach to insecurity in Niger Delta

• Aregbesola urges family planning to address challenges
• Nigeria is failing under Buhari, says Shehu Sani

Governor Seriaki Dickson of Bayelsa State has urged President Mohammadu Buhari to adopt new approach in solving the security challenges in Niger Delta.

He made the call in an interview with State House Correspondents after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja yesterday.

He also called for devolution of power among the federating states, as espoused by the country’s founding fathers.
Dickson explained that he was at the Presidential Villa to discuss security challenges and other sundry issues affecting the Niger Delta region.

Dickson said his meeting afforded him the opportunity to discuss a whole range of other issues, including what should be the final response to the on-going debate about devolution.

Meanwhile, Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has called on Nigerians to embrace family planning to curtail population explosion in the country.

He said, with the spate of insecurity in the land, all hands must be on the deck to ensure that the population doesn’t get to the level that the Nigerian state cannot handle.

He made the call at the 2018 Ramadan Lecture‎ organised by the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC), at Oke-Baale in Osogbo.

Also, Senator Shehu Sani has lamented the deteriorating security and living condition of Nigerians under President Muhammadu Buhari.

He spoke in Abuja at the public presentation of a book ‘Prime Witness’ Change and Policy Challenges in Buhari’s Nigeria.

He said: “Under the Buhari government, our country is going through difficult moment. Oil prices are going up, but the value for human life is going down.

“The government is failing and people no longer speak the truth,” he said.
