THE African-British Diaspora Returnees Organisation, meant to promote and enhance the return of Africans in Diaspora, has been re-launched in Lagos, Nigeria.

Announcing this during the week, Director-General of the body, Al-Ja’afaru Braimoh, stated that besides encouraging Africans on the need to return home, they would also be helping the returnees on how to settle down effectively.

He listed some of the objectives and goals of the group to include empowering returning Africans through resettlement programmes and campaigns; help returning Africans trace family trees and reconnect lost families; promote leadership training, confidence, creative minds and problem solvers; returnees to accept challenges, assume responsibilities and excellence and equip returnees with knowledge of borderless world and can do.

Braimoh further said that along with encouraging some Africans to return home, the body would be encouraging some other to help project Africa positively and contribute to its economic development.

“Africa is the next frontier in consumer consumption growth over the next 30 years as its population grows over a billion with $1trillion economy and over 350 million consumers qualifying for middle-class spenders/consumers.

“It is imperative for the West to look towards Africa for their next gold rush, not another form of colonization which is economically inevitable and it’s a necessary change, mutual business trades.

“Also, this time, Africans must be ready and meet the West on equal terms, partnership, synergy basis. It is in the light of this bitter truth we must all work together and do not try to be an Island or goliath and awakened the continent, Africa and Africans in Diaspora to the reality of the future and start the preparation to resettle, rehabilitate, rebrand, repackage, empowerment and embrace change.”

He revealed that the body would be working in partnership with BEN TV UK for some of its programme.
