Delta, USAID chart path as water enumerators resume in 10 zones

Resident of 10 major towns in Delta State will from November 11 to December 13, 2019 host water enumerators at areas covered with pipes to improve urban water and sanitation service delivery by strengthening the governance, financial and technical viability.

The five-week exercise is to capture information of no fewer than 65,000 customers. This was revealed yesterday at the state’s Urban Water Corporation and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) quarterly roundtable workshop in Asaba.

The event, which was attended by civil society organisations, (CSOs) and others, provided the media with relevant information on progress made so far on the four-year project between the state and USAID, revealing plans for activities that should build closer coordination between the U.S. agency, the state water corporation as well as allied stakeholders to advance sustained growth by improving Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) services in urban areas.

In his opening remarks, the General Manager, Delta State urban Water Corporation, Nosa Okoh, said: “This meeting is to appraise the four years programme that seeks to improve water and sanitation service delivery. Consequently, we enjoin residents to cooperate with the enumerators that will begin work on Monday, November 11, from Ogwashi-Uku to Asaba, Kwale, and Ozoro, then to Ughelli, Bomadi, Warri, Agbor, Orerokoe and Sapele.”
