Delta group hosts economic summit June 30 in Lagos

The Delta Economic Summit Group (DESG) has concluded arrangement to organise its maiden economic discourse with the theme, “Bridging the Investment Gap in Delta State.”

According to the organisers, the summit, which holds next Thursday, June 30 at the Civil Centre, Victoria Island in Lagos, is in line with the group’s vision to become the principal private sector-led think-tank and advocacy authority in economic development, promote collaboration between the state government and the private sector.

The Director General of DESG, Chukwuka Monye, said: “Creating opportunities for everyone to interact is critical for bridging the investment gap in the state. Based on our relations so far with the state government, it is clear that a lot of work has been done by the government, although there is less awareness within the private sector.”

Guests expected at the event include the state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, Chairman, Diamond Bank Plc, Dr. Chris Ogbechie; Chief Executive Officer, Financial Derivatives, Bismarck Rewane; Managing Director, Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), Mrs. Funke Osibodu; Delta State Commissioner for Economic Planning, Dr. Kingsley Emu as well as ace comedian and Chief Executive Officer of Hiccupuray, Mr. Atuyota Akpobome, popularly known as Alibaba, among others.

Panelists are to relieve sector-specific experiences and suggest ways to improving private sector investments while government officials are to give insights into general developments in the state since its creation on August 27, 1991.
