The Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji has tasked the Federal Government and other stakeholders in the education sector to evolve mechanism that will deemphasise paper qualifications so as to stem the tide of unemployment in the country.

Rather, the monarch called for emphasis to be placed on acquisition of entrepreneur-driven skills to make many unemployed graduates, becoming self-reliant.

The monarch made the call while playing host to management of Precious Cornerstone University (PCU) Ibadan led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kola Oloke.

He commended what he described as the “brilliant start” of the university, adding that he was aware the institution was established for knowledge and research.

The royal father who expressed the happiness that university came into reality during his lifetime, promised to mobilize well-meaning Ibadan indigenes with a view to supporting the growth and development of the institution.

Earlier, the VC, Prof. Oloke had thanked the monarch for always identifying with the university since its birth and assured him that the PCU is placing much attention to the acquisition of entrepreneurial skills in its curriculum as against paper certificates.
