The Nigerian Police, Ondo State Command, has confirmed the death of the former Vice- Chancellor (VC) of the Federal University of Technology, Akure ( FUTA), Prof. Albert Ilemobade, who was said to have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen last week.

Mr Isaac Eke, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the state, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the decomposing body of Ilemobade was found in a store in his Ijapo Estate, Akure residence on Sunday evening.

The former VC was reportedly abducted last Monday along with his gateman and was said to have been taken to an unknown destination, until his body was found on Sunday.

NAN, however, gathered that the octogenarian’s decomposing body was found after the arrest of two of his domestic staff by security agents in Ogun State, while they trying to sell the Red Toyota RAV4 Jeep stolen from the late Ilemobade’s residence.

Eke, who confirmed that the two suspects have been apprehended by men of the Ogun State police Command, said that they would be transferred to Ondo State on Monday.

“After interrogation, the two suspects confessed that they killed Ilemobade and hid his corpse in a store which housed his generating set, before running away with his vehicle which they planned to sell.

“A signal was sent to us from Ogun State Command and this led to the discovery of the decomposing body of the former VC,” the commissioner said.

All attempts to speak with any member of the family of the deceased was not successful as some of them, including two of his children and his wife, were too grieved to speak with journalists.

Terrible. Just so terrible. For what? For money? That is reason enough to kill your boss? End of times?

That was simply a pure act of evil. However, it’s good his killers were found at last by the law enforcement agency. I guess subjecting the suspects to the same fate that befell the late former VC will be appropriate if they are finally pronounced guilty at the court. They just ain’t fit to live! No amount of soothing words offer to the bereaved family can be appropriate enough to console them at this very painful moment owing to the gruesome manner the deceased life was cut short. My sympathy goes out to his immediate family, friends and the Ondo state government. May God grant the family the courage to bear the irreparable loss.

May his soul rest in peace. My heart goes out the immediate family who are grieving. May God judge his killers and any other persons who may be behind this evil.

Lord, please help console this family.
    This is just terrible.
The heart of man is desperately wicked. This old man that did no harm to you. Why not just take the car and let him be? You took a life, just for a car? May your generations be wiped out for flippant reasons in Jesus name.
    Awon oloriburuku!
