Former Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye, who is currently serving a 14-year jail term over financial misdeeds during his time as governor, has picked All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination form to contest next year’s election.

APC Publicity Secretary in the state, Chindo Dafat, confirmed the development in Jos yesterday, saying he (Dariye) will be seeking a third term for Plateau Central senatorial district with other contenders.

Dafat said Dariye has filled the form and submitted to the party, adding that Dariye’s ward secretary signed the form on his behalf and his supporters are already campaigning ahead of the party primaries.

He pointed out that Dariye would contest the APC ticket for the position with Zakari Dimka, Sam Piwuna and Manji Pompori.

“Somebody could be in hospital or prison and pick a nomination form from there. We have no right to deny anyone a nomination form. Even the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) cannot stop Dariye from contesting the 2019 elections,” he said.
