Cross River indigenes laud Supreme Court judgment

Cross River indigenes have lauded the outcome of yesterday’s Supreme Court judgment that affirmed Senator Ben Ayade as the governor of the state.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on NDDC Affairs, Mr. Victor Ekpo said “the judgment has brought to an end an almost two years of legal tussle which to me was a distraction”.

He said, “this judgment is a big relief to us as it almost shot up some people’s blood pressure. Our digital governor is vindicated once more and we give God the glory. With this, the governor will be more relaxed and focused on his job”.

Former Special Adviser to Governor Ayade on Strategy and Mobilisation, Rev. Ray Ugba Morphy said, “my reaction is that the Supreme Court has given judgment and it is the apex court of the land. Joe is a lawyer and a SAN therefore myself and those that associate with him cannot derogate or protest the judgment of the Supreme Court. We respect the judgment of the Supreme Court.

“We expect that going forward, the governor will face governance and ensure he delivers dividend of democracy to our people. The issues that I have raised about poor governance, he should address it and once he addresses it, I have no personal issues with him but if he does not address it, of course I have a legitimate right to oppose as opposition is part of democracy.”

He stated that, “we cannot as democrats oppose the constitution of the land as the Supreme Court is the final arbiter. I am not going to discuss the merit or the demerit of the judgment because that is over. We are talking about good governance in Cross River State and we hope the man has changed and do what is necessary and make our people happy for the remaining period of his tenure so that 2019 which there will be another election he will be able to come out and put his scorecard before the people.
