policeThe Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Val Ntomchukwu has warned policemen not to engage in extra judicial killing while carrying out their duties.

The Police chief who gave the advice in Abeokuta, the State capital while addressing journalists stated that democracy forbids extra judicial killing.

He stressed that the job of a policeman is to make arrests and if there is resistance, they should ‘shoot to maim’ to effect arrest.

Also twenty-two suspects were paraded for crimes ranging from murder and kidnapping to car snatching.

One of them, Samuel Taiwo, an electrician was in Police net for allegedly masterminding the kidnapping of a 97 year old man.

Taiwo told newsmen that a relative of the old man approached him with the idea of abducting the victim for ransom.

He said the relative had told him that the children of the old man were too rich but stingy as they don’t normally give him any assistance.
