CP seeks monarch’s support in crime prevention

According to him, before the advent of modern policing, traditional rulers were the chief security officers, political and social heads of their communities.The Commissioner assured the royal fathers that the police would continue to ensure a well secured state.

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Donald Awunah, has solicited the support of traditional rulers, as it is critical to curbing crime in the state. Speaking when he led his men on a courtesy visit to the palace of the HRM Effiong Archianga, Awunah said traditional rulers are germane in crime prevention as custodian of the people.

According to him, before the advent of modern policing, traditional rulers were the chief security officers, political and social heads of their communities.The Commissioner assured the royal fathers that the police would continue to ensure a well secured state.

Earlier, Obong Effiong Archianga, who is also the Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs, commended the commissioner for being proactive in crime prevention since his assumption of duty.Archianga promised to mobilise the monarchs in the state to take the security of their communities more serious.
