Court dismisses kingmakers quest to stop new emirs in Kano
A Kano high court Friday overruled an application to stop new first class emirs from carrying out the duties of their offices in Kano.
Justice Ahmed Tijani Gbadamasi of Court ruled against the application filed by Kano kingmakers.
The court had earlier granted the order of the applicants directing the Kano state government, speaker house of assembly and six other defendants to maintain status quo until the determination of the substantive suit.
Kano state government inaugurated the new emirate councils with first-class status following the passage and assent of appointment and deposition of emirate council law 2019, by the state house of assembly.
