Commission seeks N132b for registration of Nigerians
The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) is in need of N132 billion to register Nigerians both at home and abroad.
Its Director-General, Aliyu Aziz, made the disclosure yesterday at the inaugural National Identity Day in Abuja where he noted that with every Nigerian having their national identification number (NIN), the level of crime would reduce drastically.
According to him, NIN facilitates the ease of doing business, just as it helps in accessing visas.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, who stressed the need for a comprehensive database for the citizenry, commended the commission for driving towards capturing all Nigerians.
