Commendation galore as Fr. Mbamalu bows out of St Charles College

• Priest lauds Archbishop Okeke for landmark in education

It was a moment of joy at St. Charles College, Onitsha, yesterday, during a special thanksgiving service held by Rev Fr. Vitus Mbamalu, who left the school after completing nine years as principal and manager.

The church hall was filled to capacity with students and other worshippers, who came to identify with him. In his sermon, Rev Dr. Emmanuel Emenu stressed the need for people to always render appreciable service in their areas of operation.

He commended Mbamalu for his dedicated service at St Charles College and described him as an achiever who recognised that whatever he achieved was by the grace of God.

“He came, he saw and he conquered. The outgoing principal came to the school at a very young age and only two years after his ordination. He effected a lot of transformation and lifted the image of the school and the standard of students produced,” Emenu said.

In his speech, Mbamalu expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the success he recorded at the college, noting that the best apostolate for any priest was in the school, in spite of the challenges associated with it.

“When I came here, I had no experience. The students gave me a nickname due to my tough stance against indiscipline, a virtue extolled by the Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Rev. Valeria Okeke, who has continued to provide for the school.”
