Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has called for balanced development in the country to mobilise people for collective societal progress. He made the call at the Government House, Enugu during a town hall meeting with the Oguiyi Nike and Umunevo Nike autonomous communities in North Senatorial district.

The governor admitted that the cries for marginalisation in most parts of the country stems from the concentration of government projects in one area, while neglecting areas.

He said his administration was committed to spreading and balancing infrastructure in the state, adding that the focus was necessary to tap into the comparative potentials of every part of the state to build a more virile, robust and all-inclusive community.

“Each and every section of this state has their peculiar potentials which God has endowed them with. We cannot fully maximise these opportunities if, as leaders, we fail to take a holistic look at harnessing the endowments for the upliftment of the people, and by extension, the common good of the state,” he said. Ugwuanyi commended the people for their disposition to peace, and urged them to sustain the position to sustain a peaceful environment for economic prosperity.

According to him: “Peace and security provides the most fertile ground for a people to exploit the potentials of nature around them and profitably express their God-given talents and learned capabilities.

A crises-prone environment, on the other hand, limits the realizsation of these potentials, constraining growth and leaving power in the hands of a few strong men, whose interests and intentions are against the common good.”

The governor lauded the contributions of the indigenous people of Oguiyi Nike and others in the Enugu capital city, and promised to address some of the challenges facing them.Chairman, Oguiyi Nike Twon Union, Emeka Ede, expressed appreciation to the government for its commitment to the welfare of all segments of the people and urged the people to support the governor’s developmental policies and ideas.
