A coalition under the aegis of Legacy Initiatives International has stressed the need for a change of government in 2019 to salvage the country from what economy downturn in the country.

While corroborating President Muhammadu Buhari’s statement that the Nigerian economy was in a bad shape, Grand Patron of the group, Dr. Kenny Martins argued that unfortunately, nothing could be done about the economy until the next administration emerges. He, therefore, urged the electorate to vote leaders who have a good understanding of the economy and would consider the plight of the people.

Martins spoke at the end of the year media briefing in Lagos, insisting: “Never in the history of this country has it been so bad, this is not a campaign issue, it is the reality. “The blame can always be traded left and right, but the reality is that is that it is not well with the people; it is not well with the nation’s economy.

“We cannot campaign for elections and pay attention to the economy. It doesn’t work. That’s why in every country there is always a law in campaign terms. Even the owners and drivers of the economy take holiday, they take a break because they are watching who is going to emerge, the policies they want to drive and how they will affect whatever they want to do.”

Meanwhile, General Overseer of The Lord’s Chosen Church, Pastor Lazarus Muoka, has urged Buhari to conduct himself in the fear of God towards the 2019 election. He added that all stakeholders should eschew actions capable of jeopardising Nigeria’s peace, stressing that members of the Church should endeavor to exercise their civil rights by going out en mass to vote during next year’s election.

“Let everything be done according to the will of God, when the will of God is done, I believe the nation will be blessed. Let the will of God be done in every area in the coming election.”“My prayers is that there should be no violence of any form and let us rely on God to help us. Everybody should pray towards 2019 elections,” he said.
