Cleric urges Nigerians to embrace hard work, creativity to trigger change

Pastor Olumide Olugbenle, a Facilitator with the Institute for National Transformation, has said that the change Nigerians were clamouring for would happen only if they changed their attitudes which encouraged laziness and lack of creativity.

According to a statement signed by Mr Celestine Ogugua, Head of Media, Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), on Monday in Abuja, Olugbenle said this while training pilgrims in Israel.

The statement said that Nigerian Pilgrims participating in the 2016 Easter Pilgrimage had been undergoing basic leadership training aimed at creating values and ideas for the transformation of the country.

Olugbenle, while teaching on “the principle of Leadership”, encouraged the pilgrims to learn from Israel’s success which.
hinged on discipline, innovation and investment in technology, the statement said.

It said the speaker, who focused on the theme: “Raising Value-Based No-Excuse Leaders”, took his lessons from the creation story in Genesis.

“God, while creating the world, kept working until everything was good and beautiful.

“I encourage you to embrace hard work and shun excuses and procrastination for in it lies the foundation of the change you clamour for,’’ the statement quoted him as saying.

The statement said that the pilgrims toured some farms where they learnt some basic rudiments and skills of Israel’s agricultural Production.

According to the statement, the leadership and skill acquisition programme which NCPC introduced last year is aimed at equipping Christian pilgrims with skills.

It said the skills would enable them to become independent, especially now that the country is facing economic challenges.
