Ibadan Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ICCI) has pledged support for Federal Government’s economic diversification efforts, especially through huge investment in agriculture.

The newly inaugurated president of the chamber, Princess Margaret Amusan-Ogunnaike gave the assurance in her acceptance speech at the investiture ceremony in Ibadan, adding that the body’s stance would not only create more wealth for the nation but also provide more jobs for the unemployed.

She said as the fall in the revenue accruing from oil was not only affecting individuals and organisations, but the country at large, Amusan-Ogunnaike, however, assured that her organiastion was poised to being partners in progress with government by making agriculture a priority.

To this end, the ICCI boss said the chamber would encourage its members to engage with the International Institute of Tropical
Agriculture (IITA) through the Agricultural Trade Group scheme.

“The downturn of economies globally, especially with the dwindling fortune of oil revenue that has adversely affected not only the fortune of individuals/enterprises, but also our nation, had necessitated the Federal Government to pursue the policy of boosting agricultural products nationwide.

“We, on our part at this chamber, shall waste no time in maximizing our efforts in ensuring that we benefit optimally in this regard. Our members will be encouraged to link up with IITA here in Ibadan and tap from their wealth of experience and researches among other initiatives.

“We have a vibrant Agricultural Trade Group under the able chairmanship of Chief Ogunnaike. I have implicit confidence in the group that, they will forge ahead
