Campaign for Plateau bye-election by APC, PDP heightens

Plateau state mapFOLLOWING the death of Honorable Godfrey Dashe, member representing Quaan Pan North Constituency on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Plateau State House of Assembly, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, 28th November for a bye-election to fill the vacuum.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has therefore embarked on rigorous campaign in its determination to win the seat on that day because this will almost balance the equation in the 24-member House of Assembly.

In the Assembly, PDP had 13 before the demise of Dashe while APC has 11. APC has not hidden its desire to clinch the vacant seat.

It was in this direction that Governor Simon Bako Lalong mobilised the people of Quaan Pan North, prevailing on them to come out en masse to vote for the APC candidate, Mr. Eric Dakogol in the election, saying his administration will be responsive to the needs of the people, further asserted that APC government in the state is hinged on justice and fairness.

Lalong urged the people of the area to employ the door-to-door campaign strategy that the APC used in the last general elections to emerge victoriously.

APC state chairman, Chief Latep Dabang, who presented the party’s flag to its candidate, Dakogol, urged party supporters to be change agents for the party to be victorious, announcing to the delight of the supporters that the party had received about 5,000 defectors in the area.

In his remarks, Speaker, State House of Assembly, Hon. Peter Azi, said that the bye – election is very important to the APC, as winning it will bring development stability in the House.

Also, member representing Quaan Pan South, Hon. Mohammed Balo appealed to the people of the area to elect the APC candidate so that they would collectively make laws that will bring development to the area.

Chief of Staff, Government House, Chief John Dafaan encouraged the youth towards working for APC the people to vote for APC that day.
