Calabar-based engineer petitions IGP over threat to life

A Calabar based engineer, Murphy Ekpo has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on an alleged threat to life and incessant illegal arrests over a dispute between him and his employer.
The engineer, in dispute with his employers, Clean All Environment Services Limited, said the Police arraigned him before the Chief Magistrate Court, Calabar over alleged forgery of letter of appointment issued by the company and was later arraigned with a similar charge before the Federal High Court, Calabar, presided over by Justice I. E Ekwo, who dismissed the case when the court was convinced that he was to suffer double jeopardy.
Ekpo, yesterday, told newsmen that he had instituted a civil suit against his employers for redress over the employer and employee dispute, which the Police is bent to frustrate hence the petition to the Inspector General of Police in a letter dated 26th June, 2018, seeking his prompt intervention to prevent sanctity of justice being dragged in the mud and for his safety.
The petitioner further said during cross-examining on the 13th of June, 2018, some policemen invaded the National Industrial Court, Calabar, arrested him to frustrate his effort to obtain justice. He said same day the Cross River Department of the SIIB later in the evening of 13th June, 2018 invaded his residence late night, destroyed a door leading to his sitting room, held family members and other occupants hostage and later arrested and detained two of his guests while his daughter’s telephone has been impounded.The State’s Police PRO, Irene Ugbo said, “I am not aware of the matter and if there is anything like that the IG will direct the Commissioner of Police (CP) to act on it.”
