A forty-two-year-old businessman identified as Onyeisi (surname withheld) in Owa-Oyibo, Ika North East Local Council of Delta State at the weekend allegedly committed suicide in the apartment of a lady friend.

It was reliably gathered that the businessman, allegedly troubled by “weak erection” was a member of the vigilance group in the area, who shot himself dead with his official gun.

But the police imagemaker in the state, Mr. Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the incident, said investigation was ongoing with a view to ascertaining the root cause of his death.

Unconfirmed family sources said Onyeisi allegedly suffered from an undisclosed ailment, a situation he allegedly took his life for.

Investigation revealed that the deceased’s lover, identified as Buchi (surname withheld) had denied knowledge of the man’s death, stating that they were no longer together before the incident happened on Friday night.

Neighbours who spoke to our correspondent on the grounds of anonymity said the decision of the deceased to shoot himself might have been informed by his undisclosed illness, adding that they heard gunshot and screaming on the fateful day. He was said to have died on the spot before help could come his way.

Meanwhile, the Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 29-year-old pastor, identified as Cletus Metitiri, for allegedly defiling two under-age siblings in Obiaruku community.

Confirming the arrest of the alleged randy pastor, the Police Commissioner in the state, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, gave the names of the pastor’s victims as: Olomu Joy, 11; and Olomu Happy, 13; adding that the arrest was made possible by neighbours who caught him in the act.

He said: “Preliminary investigation revealed a case of defilement on the two sisters, and the suspect is currently being detained for further investigation”.
