Buhari’s arrival shrouded in secrecy

Barring any last minute changes, President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to resume work on Monday, February 6, 2017, but his arrival in the country is still shrouded in secrecy.

Also, preparations for his arrival are still being kept secret, as nothing on ground yesterday showed that the president was being expected today. Hitherto, the President’s return after several days away was heralded with pomp and activities.

His Special Adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina was not categorical when contacted by The Guardian regarding official preparations to receive the president at the expiration of his holiday. He simply said: “When the information is out you’ll be told.”

However, other sources in the Presidency confirmed on Friday that the president would be received by top government officials at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Meanwhile, workers of construction giant, Julius Berger were seen on Friday carrying out routine cleaning of the forecourt in the villa and putting other aesthetic touches on the building housing the president’s office.

Although there was no indication of a grand reception being planned, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), said it has mobilised no fewer than 15,000‎ of its members to welcome President Muhammadu Buhari at the Nnmadi Azikwe International Airport Abuja.

Malam Gambo Jagindi, Special Adviser on media and publicity to the President of NYCN made the disclosure in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday in Abuja.

According to the statement, “ The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has concluded arrangements to mobilise not less than 15,000 of its members to be at Abuja airport on Feb. 6, to welcome President Buhari from vacation.”

Recall that President Buhari wrote to the Senate on Friday, January 21, that the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo would act on his behalf as President for the 10 days that he would be on medical vacation.

In a letter addressed to the President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki, President Buhari said he was writing in line with Section 145 (1) of the 1999 constitution as amended.

According to the letter, which was read on the floor of the Senate at plenary by Saraki, President Buhari said he will be away from Monday 23rd January to Monday 6th February.

However, since President Muhammadu Buhari left the shores of Nigeria on Thursday, January 20 to the UK on a 10-day medical vacation, the country, indeed the media, had been inundated with the rumour of his death in a London hospital, with his media aides, Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu, battling to debunk the many fabricated news items that flooded the social media.

If the President is gravely Ill they should stop the lies and let’s pray for him how long will this cat and mouse game on his state of health continue?if he is not physically fit for office he should hand over so Osinbajo must the Yar’adua scenario repeat itself?whether hidden or not eventually he must make a public appearance and the truth will be known.

I pray for successful arrival of our president and God’s touch for him to resign office to have rest in his HOUSE for we are fed up of directionless governance and dictatorship without logical inclination. God help President Oshinbajo as he governs the Nation logically while he elect those that are qualified for the right positions, May the Grace of God fortify President Oshinbajo to always think before taking actions while being able to ostracize corrupt politicians from the new cabinet. Nigerian Join me say Amen….

Nigeria is the only country in the World today in whose citizens have lost touch with information about their president for 2-week now. Even his boasted return is shrouded in secrecy. That is truly the severe impact of illiteracy in governance!

I am not a Yoruba as you may be able to deduce from my name. Indeed, I of the Urhobo clan. I maintain that we are begining to see the revelation that is Ahmed Tinubu’s master stroke. By fronting Buhari, and making Oshinbanjo as his deputy, he has put the country in the hands of very efficient and patriotic Yorubas. You only need look at the what the Yoruba speaking States have achieved for their people and contrast that with the Hausas, Ibos and the thief-ravaged states of the Delta and you cannot help but wished that we all have some modicum those successful Yoruba speaking states. The Hausas continue to flounder developmentally and others outside the Yoruba speaking state continue to steal from their treasuries to buy assets in Europe for themselves and their families. I salute Ahmed Tinubu, a true king maker for the sake of the suffering Nigerian. I salute Fashola, Ambode and all the other Yoruba speaking state governors who prioritised the welfare of their citizens above personal gains.

You are an idiot and a tribal bigot. You sell-outs and loud-mouthed idiots should restrain your diarrhoea-infested mouth. On a personal level, I like Professor Osibanjo. But idiots like you should not bring ill-luck to the distinguish Professor and SAN. Remember that anything is possible in Naija. Don’t let those you mock rock the boat for the distinguish Prof. Tribalism and idiocy will kill people like you. Anu mbama! I really don’t know how you are better than other Nigerians.
Look around you and compare yourself with people from other tribes living amongst you – including those living in your village. Honestly ask yourself whether you are better than them in all ramifications. It is tribalism and religious fanatism that will eventually kill this country. Beware!!

      • Ojiyovwi

Nigerians run to Britain and other countries not realizing those doctors could be working with the CIA or British Intelligence. They inject them with poisons which cause stroke or death for example President Musa Yar’adua was exposed to a hypoxic gaseous mixture under anesthesia which rendered him brain dead. The Western intelligence agencies want war in Nigeria, lets see how they hurt president Buhari.

May God deliver His people from this evil leaders.a close friend of mine just lost his dad at FMC Abeokuta due to their imcompetency. Why can’t our leaders receive treatment here? Why must they always travel? After getting several millions as medical allowance, you will still travel from the nation’s pocket.uraguan president will que at public hospital to receive treatment because he has confidence in his people.how can we develop when an average man can’t see a president all through his lifetime except from the TV.Either he dies or live,I pray God should change power by force.we don’t need cowards as leaders and same goes to Amosu.that wicked Ogun state governnent.May karmal hit their descendants at though areas in life.Amen

  • pajerow

By now I expect the senate to have constituted a visiting group to go to London and see him , along with a doctor to assess and demand his medical records ,if he doesn’t show up by weekend . He belongs to the public – he is spending Nigerian forex that he banned for others , our presidential fleet is parked in UK running costs in recession . No medical test results in UK take indefinite to come back!. The stupid wife has gone to lesser ‘haaj’!- this is nothing but a visit to book an ‘almajiri’ slot in Saudi King’s palace for her vegetative husband exactly like they did for Yar adua to create a money stealing vacuum

we are still playing politics with Buhari arrival into Nigeria. The presidency wanted Buhari to escape impeachment by not staying out of duty for more than ninety days
