Buhari visits injured NAF pilots in hospital

Buhari visits Squadron Leader Batuba & Flight Lieutenant Andy,the two survivors of the tragic collision of 2 Nigerian Air Force fighter jets on Friday in Abuja.

Buhari had returned to the country earlier from the 73rd United Nations General Assembly in New York.

His Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, stated last night that the president turned up at the hospital about 5.30pm.

He rejoiced with Sqn. Ldr. Batuba and Flt. Lt. Andy, while commiserating with them on the loss of their colleague, Sqn. Ldr Mohammed Baba-Ari.

The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, who was on hand to receive the president, explained that the three pilots ejected successfully from their jets after the collision, while training for air parade to mark the 58th Independence anniversary, but the helmet of Babari flew open and he suffered head injuries that turned fatal.

He described Baba-Ari as a pilot who made tangible contributions in the counter-terrorism operations in the North East.
