President Muhammadu Buhari has directed Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu and Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin to immediately investigate the killings in Katsina and report to him.

The President, who gave the directive when he received reports of killings in Katsina State on Tuesday, also expressed shock over the development describing the perpetrators as senseless.

A statement issued by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu in Abuja said President Buhari assured citizens that his administration would restore peace and stability in the country.

“President Buhari, specifically instructed security chiefs to find out how the operation was carried out, not minding the Holy month of Ramadhan, and put in place structures to prevent a future occurrence,” the statement added.

While commiserating with the governor and people of the state over the losses and prayed Allah to comfort those who have lost their loved ones, the President said those instigating violence in the North and other parts of the country would be exposed and prosecuted.
