President Muhammadu Buhari has joined the media world in celebrating veteran journalist, columnist and author, Dan Ochima Agbese, who turns 75 today.

Saluting him for his years of consistency, resilience and patriotism in a statement yesterday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the President affirmed that Agbese’s passion for journalism reflects his deep love for Nigeria as depicted in the subjects of his columns and books.

He also praised the septuagenarian’s analytical and investigative prowess to treatment of national issues, thanking him for sacrificing his time and talent in pursuit of a greater future for the country.

The association stated that “all outstanding salary shortfalls and arrears should be paid within the next 40 days, otherwise we will not guarantee industrial harmony.”

NARD added: “The Federal Government through the Ministry of Health and relevant organs should mandate and supervise the employment of resident doctors to fill the vacancies within training institutions.

“All doctors who suffered same scale promotion should be immediately placed on their appropriate grade levels and paid outstanding salary arrears.

“The state governments should look into their tertiary health institutions and immediately halt the decay in providing access to quality healthcare to their citizenry.”
