President Muhammadu Buhari has inducted two Agusta 109 Power attack helicopters into the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to deal with security challenges in the country.

Buhari, who commissioned the aircraft at the NAF day celebration yesterday in Abuja, said their acquisition was part of government’s effort to end Boko Haram terrorism, which had posed a serious threat to Nigeria’s territorial integrity and development of the North East.

Represented by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the President said the aircraft and other additional helicopters expected to arrive the country in next few months, would boost NAF’s performance of its constitutional role.

Buhari commended NAF for its contributions in addressing the security challenges in the North West against armed banditry, cattle rustling, kidnappings and other vices.

He said the efforts of NAF in conjunction with other security agents have started yielding positive results, adding that government has already commenced reconstruction and resettlement of the North East.
