Akwa Ibom Governorship candidate, Mr. Nsima Ekere

The governorship bid of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Akwa Ibom State, Nsima Ekere, received a major boost yesterday with the donation of a three-storey campaign office in Eket Council by a business mogul and political financier, Emmanuel Assam, popularly known as Emmaco.

Commissioning the office along the busy Eket/Oron road, Ekere thanked the donor for his effort to APC victorious in the coming general elections.

He pointed out that the office, the second such donation in Eket after the first one by a former APC governorship aspirant, Bassey Dan-Abia, would serve as a veritable place to strategise for the success of the party in the council.

Lamenting the present level of poverty and hunger in the state, Ekere vowed to vigorously pursue the banishment of poverty, if elected governor.

However, the donor explained that he was driven by his passion for the Ekere project, expressing the belief that the Ekere’s government would bring development to Eket.

Chairman of the APC Campaign Council, Group Capt. Ewang Sam Ewang (rtd.), described the huge turn-out as a wonder and a demonstration of the love of Eket people for the APC.

Senator Eme Ekaette, who represented Akwa Ibom South in the National Assembly, reasoned that Ekere had garnered the requisite experience to turn things around for good in the state as governor.

Former House of Assembly speaker, Bassey Essien, lamented that Eket was full of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) because of the destruction of the popular Urua Nka market.

Mr. Eseme Eyiboh, who represented Eket/Esit Eket/Ibeno/ONNA in the House of Representatives, criticised the failure of the state government to complete its projects in Eket, arguing that it had left the infrastructure in the area in poor state.

Former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr. Emem Wills, predicted a 75 per cent win for the APC in Eket and dismissed insinuations that the APC was weak in the area.

APC House of Representatives candidate for Eket/Esit Eket/Ibeno/ONNA, Mr. Kufre Akpabio, described Ekere as a tested and trusted politician who has thrived in both the private and public sectors.

The House of Assembly candidate for Eket, Charles Ebongho, declared that the APC had fully taken over Eket politically with the majority of youths and women of the area supporting the party.
