Benue Assembly appeals to workers on strike
Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, Mr. Terkimbi Ikyange, has assured the organised labour that the Assembly will meet with the Governor to ensure payment of salary arrears.
Speaking at an extraordinary legislative session with the organised labour, Ikyange said insisting that four months of salary arrears must be paid before the strike would be suspended, means the state would require about N40billion to meet labour’s demand.
Chairman, Benue State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr. Godwin Anya, said due to the hardship workers in the state were passing through, it has been resolved that unless four to five months of arrears is paid they would not suspend the ongoing industrial action.
