Some Concerned Bayelsa Elders (CBE) have called on the former President, Goodluck Jonathan and his loyalists to support the state Governor, Seriake Dickson to continue with his transformational and developmental agenda.

The elders made the call in Lagos. They said since the assumption, the governor has done wonderfully well for the state.

Their leader, John Ebeletimi said: “It is imperative for us as stakeholders in the Project Bayelsa to prevail on the former president, his loyalists and wife’s team to support the good work the governor has started in the state.”

Ebeletimi recalled that since 2005 when the governor emerged as the Attorney-General under Jonathan as governor has been loyal to the former president till date.

According to him, Dickson’s style of leadership shows he wants to leave a legacy in the state. The group explained that the reception organised by the state government in honour of the former President when he returned last week, could not have happened but for Dickson’s loyalty to the Jonathan.

“In spite of all the hostilities towards the governor by Jonathan’s wife, the governor has for three days brought Ijaw leaders from across the 78 clans to placate her. In all these, there is still no form of gratitude from Jonathan’s loyalists. In our opinion, we believe the former president cannot have a better friend and loyalist than Dickson”, they declared.

The elders therefore appealed to the former president Jonathan to encourage the governor for succeeding in keeping Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state more formidable despite all odds.

“The former president should call his people to order. It was his inability to call his loyalist to order that laid the foundation and eventual result of what led to the former governors, Timi Sylvia and RotimiAmaechi’s face off with him to rear his ugly head.’’
