Bayelsa 2019: Dickson tasks media, electoral commission on free and fair election

The Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson has called on the Federal Government, media and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to provide a conducive environment for free, fair, inclusive and participatory election in the state.
 
He stated that since 2015, the country has been dealing with extreme violence and abuse of power.
   
Governor Dickson, who spoke at the 3rd yearly conference of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), in Lagos, said the absence of a viable media equate to the death of a democracy. 

“You can have a democracy without people expressing their views agreeing with you, but most importantly having the freedom to disagree with you. Though there is need for restraint, caution, professionalism and respect.”
  
“Those of us who are running governments at this time, especially in the age of social media knows well. Just from the anonymity of a laptop or even a cell phone headlines are made and issues are raise.
