Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has warned his commissioners to avoid indolence, while informing them of the tasks ahead, claiming that his administration “inherited impotent government machineries, corruption and cluelessness”.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has warned his commissioners to avoid indolence, while informing them of the tasks ahead, claiming that his administration “inherited impotent government machineries, corruption and cluelessness”.

While swearing in the 20 newly-appointed commissioners yesterday in Bauchi, he said the main duty of the commissioners as members of the executive council was to actively participate in policy formulation and execution – for which they must collectively accept responsibility. He said, “We will appreciate commissioners to accept anything done in the council – whether they believed in it or not. It is what we call collective responsibility.

“Our administration inherited impotent machineries of government, characterised by ineptitude, indolence, corruption and cluelessness. “For our administration to have the credibility that will restore the confidence in our people, we have put in place people of impeccable character and integrity that also know the problems and challenges of our state.”

Bala disclosed that he appointed them to be servants of the people, tasking them on equitable distribution of wealth and improved living condition of the people.

“Let me assure you that we don’t have room for indolent and self-centred people in our great march to success. “All the commissioners, in 10 days, must set out all the necessary machineries to fish out all the ghost workers, you must come out with critical nominal roles of all the workers in your domain, we will no longer depend on consultants because each of you is technically sound.”

He also tasked the caretaker chairmen in the 20 councils of the state to submit the list of the workers in their councils within 10 days, to help determine their nominal roll and fish out ghost workers.
