Bauchi government seeks development partners’ assistance on health

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has sought more support from development partners in the state’s health sector.Mohammed made the request yesterday during the review of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the 2019 End of Year Primary Healthcare meeting at Emergency Operations Centre in Bauchi.He said partnership support would enable his administration to ensure the provision of all essential medicines, equipment and personnel required for healthcare service delivery across the state.

“I appreciate the strong integrated efforts by the health team, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), state and partners in harmonising strategies targeted at optimising the primary healthcare system in Bauchi State.

“This is the third review under the integrated Primary Healthcare MoU and we are delighted with the steady progress in the integration process,” he said.He however, acknowledged the contributions of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Aliko Dangote Foundation and UNICEF in the advancement of the state’s health sector and appealed for more in extending the Primary Healthcare MoU financial contribution for 2021 and 2022.

Governor Mohammed, who assured of his administration’s commitment to the realisation of the agreement reached in Seattle in November 2019, said currently the state government is working towards the full implementation of the resolutions.

“We also appreciate our development partners, our traditional rulers, religious leaders and our hardworking health team for the tireless efforts you continually put into strengthening our health system and improving our people’s health,” he stated.

Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, Stephen M. Haykin of USAID, Dr. Peter Hawkins of UNICEF, Aliko Dangote of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, Faisal Shuaibu of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency and the Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman, among others applauded the state government for the achievements recorded in Primary Healthcare and called for collective efforts in addressing the challenges.
