A three-man armed gang, on Sunday, reportedly killed Inspector Musa, burnt a police patrol vehicle and carted away AK-47 rifles in Ashaka community in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State.

It was gathered that three policemen attached to Ashaka Division were on a routine checkpoint in front of Matar-Dei Grammar School gate when they were attacked by the armed men on a motorcycle with daggers and battle axes.

The police patrol team was led by Inspector Musa, who was killed on the spot while two others sustained various degrees of injuries.

Investigation revealed that the police staged a resistance against the hoodlums before they were overwhelmed, which resulted in the killing of the police inspector.

Sources said they heard the policemen shouting for help during the struggle when they had been overwhelmed by the attackers. It was further gathered that the hoodlums were targeting police rifles.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, simply said: “the story is old.”
