Aziza to deliver DELSU 47th inaugural lecture
THE academic community and others will on Tuesday, December 1 gather at Delta State University, Abraka to listen to the university’s 47th inaugural lecture to be delivered by the institution’s Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Rose Oro Aziza.
A distinguished scholar of the Humanities, Aziza studied for a Bachelor of Arts degree in English at University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, before proceeding to the University of Ibadan for a Master of Arts in Linguistics and later a PhD in the same field from the university.
Title for the inaugural lecture is “Your Mother Tongue: An Asset or a Liability?” It will be chaired by the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victor Peretomode.
Aziza is a member of the highly regarded Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL) as well as many other professional bodies. A respected scholar, she has delivered many papers at seminars, workshops and conferences within and outside Nigeria. She was the keynote speaker at the November 2015 annual conference of Urhobo Historical Society (UHS) just two weeks before her inaugural lecture.
