Attacks: Plateau Council Chairman Accuses Security Agencies Of Complicity

The chairman of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Dr. Emmanuel Loman, has revealed some routes, which terrorists are using to unleash terror on the people in the state .
 
Loman, who was reacting to the killings of some farmers in the area, pointed out that the assailants are not just the Fulani herdsmen they know, but terrorists operating like guerrilla warriors of the Boko Haram insurgency.
    
According to Loman, there is a long stretch of forest at Manhanga village where the terrorists use to unleash pain on the people, adding that unless the security agencies, especially the Special Task Force (STF), specifically charged with that responsibility of securing Plateau do something, it will continue in that fashion for a long time.
    
He alleged that the assailants are well known to the security agencies, stressing that even “if they arrest them, the next day they will be set free and be walking on the streets again. Some Fulani residing with us are even afraid to point out the terrorists because as soon as they are arrested and released, they will turn on them for showing them to the security agencies.”
  
Continuing, he said “There was an attack around Rakum village very close to Barkin Ladi yesterday. The farmers were in their farms and the Fulani came and attacked them. They killed two people instantly, while others were severely injured and are currently in the hospital. The state government has called all the Fulani herdsmen for a discussion and the government will also call the farmers (the Berom) for a discussion later. I think it is a very good step being taken by this government.
 
“These attackers came on motorcycles, just the same way the Boko Haram insurgents operate in Maiduguri. It is the same method of operation. They use Bajaj motorcycles. During the burial of those two people that were killed, the terrorists came again in their numbers, well armed, and the mourners scampered for their lives, but the attackers killed one person again.”
   
He added, “We have been saying it that government should come and apply the same method that is being applied to combat terrorism in Maiduguri. But nobody has really listened to us.”
