Assemblies Of God Crisis: ‘Why Breakaway Faction Has Not Returned’
The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Church, Rev. Paul Emeka, yesterday, said that leaders of the breakaway faction of the church have refused to return to the mainfold because “they want position by all means.”
Speaking in Enugu during the unveiling of activities for the 2015 edition of Church’s revival summit, tagged Penniel, Rev. Emeka wondered why even after the courts, religious bodies and other leaders mediated in the crisis that arose over alleged embezzlement of funds gave him a clean bill of health, the breakaway members led by former Assistant General Superintendent, Chidi Okoroafor, chose to distance themselves form the church.
However, he said that several lessons have been learnt from the crisis that factionalized the church.
According to him “At the end of the day, they confessed that no single penny was missing. So why haven’t they come back? They are sticking to disobedience because they want position by all means.”
