As the governorship election in Edo State bacons, an aspirant, on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Blessing Agbomhere has decried the rising unemployment of youths in the state.

Agbomhere, who addressed the press yesterday, said it was unfortunate to see Edo youths unengaged in any productive venture, insisting that the government has failed in terms of youth empowerment and development.

The aspirant said if he gets the opportunity, he would probe past and present administrations in the state, including the administration of incumbent governor Adams Oshiomhole, for what he described as, lack of foresight to improve the fortunes of the teeming unemployed youths.

The social crusader and Public Relations Consultant, hails from Fugar, in Etsako Central Local Council area of Edo north, where Oshiomhole comes from.

Agbomhere iterated that the drivers of the world biggest economies were the youths, particularly the young and vibrant professionals, noting that until the youths are given the opportunity to provide governance and participate effectively in government, not much would be achieved.

According to him, “Youths and young people have been deprived from governance and leadership for too long in the state and country. The youths whom I represent have resolved that the state must be governed by a young professional.”
