Army promote LPG usage
To encourage use of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) among its officers and men, the Nigerian Army has taken delivery of gas cylinders under Techno Oil’s LPG Welfare Scheme.
The army also commissioned an LPG plant at the Mambila Barracks in Abuja and inaugurated a scheme known as the Nigerian Army Welfare by Guarantee Ltd. to further deepen cooking gas usage in Nigeria.
The Executive Vice Chairman of Techno Oil, Mrs. Nkechi Obi, said interest shown by the Army in LPG adoption was pivotal in the campaign to promote use of cleaner energy in the country.
“We are ever ready to collaborate with any agency or institution in our bid to deepen LPG adoption in Nigeria,’’ she said.
She called on government to put stringent measures in place to check importation of LPG cylinders to discourage capital flight, as well as support incentives to encourage affordability and sustainability of the LPG adoption programme in the country.
