Armed Forces ready to curb all internal security challenges, says Minister

The Minister of Defence, Gen. Mansur Dan-Ali, has assured Nigerians that the Armed Forces is combat ready to curb all internal security challenges facing the country, as well as defend its territorial integrity.

The Minister of Defence, Gen. Mansur Dan-Ali, has assured Nigerians that the Armed Forces is combat ready to curb all internal security challenges facing the country, as well as defend its territorial integrity.

Dan-Ali, who disclosed this yesterday while answering questions from journalists at the National Mosque in Abuja, shortly after the Jumat prayer to commemorate this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration (AFRD), said troops from Nigeria and Cameroun were carrying out a joint counter-insurgency operations in the Northeast region.

“I can assure you that the Armed Forces of Nigeria is ready to defend our territorial integrity, despite all the internal security challenges.

“In the Northeast, I can say they have made great successes. As I am talking to you, there is an operation going on between Nigeria and Cameroun, so we are looking at other armed forces of other countries to come and unite with us and forge ahead.”

Also speaking, the Minister of Interior, Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, said the day is in appreciation of those who paid the supreme price in service to the country, as well as those making the sacrifice for peace and stability in the country.

He said government was putting in place structures that would take care of security issues in the country, adding: “Even what is happening today, government is still reinforcing this efforts.

“Of course, you know that it is a risky business, being in the service, whether in a armed forces of Police.

“Some of them laid their lives and we remember them for what they have done.”
