The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has commended the Federal Government for its proactive steps in dousing the tension arising from the agitation for the creation of Biafra Republic and the subsequent quit notice to the Igbo to leave the north on or before October 1 this year.

In a Sallah message yesterday in Kaduna by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Mohammad Ibrahim Biu, the body maintained that the action of the agitators, capable of throwing the nation into a crisis, was averted by the swift response of government.

He noted: “The Ramadan period was an opportunity for Muslims all over the world to fast, pray and devote themselves to the readings and teachings of the Holy Quran as well as the practices and sayings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

“It was also an occasion for Muslims to reaffirm their belief in the oneness of Almighty Allah (SWT) and the ideals of Islam. Muslims also prayed fervently for peace, unity and understanding within the Ummah and Nigerians in general. They also helped the less- privileged and the poor in view of the prevailing economic hardships and other inequalities among the citizenry.”

Biu went on: “ ACF, therefore, wishes the Muslim Ummah a peaceful and happy Eid-el-Fitr celebration. It equally urges Nigerians to devote themselves to prayers for the unity, peaceful coexistence and especially to the sick but dear President Muhammadu Buhari. “ACF wishes the President a quick recovery and early return home to continue with the daunting task of governance.”
